Dear Fellow Alumni,

I hope you will find time to read this and share whatever you can to help us help our younger brothers and sisters in JBL.

The JBLMNHSAA Scholarship Program (JASPR)

One benevolent alumna felt that GOD have helped her to be where she is now. She came from a poor family and experienced lots of hardship before she was able to finish her studeis and finally found a job. As a thanksgiving she wanted to share her blessings to some of the poor but deserving students of her Alma Mater where she spent her high school days. This school year 2009 - 2010 she promised to help 5 students by giving them Five Hundred Pesos (Php 500.00) monthly allowance. She agreed that her help be coursed through the association so that other benevolent alumni may also consider helping younger brothers and sisters at the Jose Borromeo Legaspi Memorial National High School, Aranas, Balete, Aklan.

Originally, it was planned that the association will give a monthly allowance of Five Hundred Pesos (Php 500.00) to each recipient. Such amount will be released to them in a weekly basis to ensure that this would be used for their school needs like fare, etc. It would be released every Monday afternoon. However, in order to save time and effort, it was decided that their monthly allowance will be released in full through their parents as soon as it becomes available.

On June 6, 2009, another generous soul whom we named Sponsor #2 promised to help two (2) students by also giving them the same help as promised by Sponsor #1.

On June 15, 2009, seven (7) out of the 17 interested students were called to inform them that they are the lucky recipients of the financial assistance offered by those generous heart through the JBLMNHS Alumni Association. We call them JASPR - JBLMNHS Alumni Association Scholarship Program Recipients. On that same date, five (5) of them received their allowance for the month of June from Sponsor #1.

They are:

  • Raynhette Tolentino Rebelala, 1st Year student
  • Christian Quitong Quirino, 1st Year student
  • Ira Nay Navarette Herradura, 1st Year student
  • Jayson Manacho Cabandi, 3rd Year student
  • Novie Dela Vega Cabandi, 4th Year student

The other two (2) who are still waiting for the June 2009 allowance are:

  • Mahalia Cassandra Dela Vega Legaspi, 2nd Year student
  • Lerry Joy Pelagio Tenazas, 4th Year student

Today, Sponsor #1 called that she is on the way to send the July allowance of the 5 students. Until now, I am hoping that Sponsor #2 will send in the amount promised.

My fellow alumni, what can you say about this? Hope to hear from you very soon.

Very truly yours,

Mirasol Q. Cabandi - Peralta

JBLMNHSAA Scholars - Still About JASPR

April 30, 2010

Dear Fellow Alumni,

Thanks God the school year 2009 - 2010 ended last March 30, 2010 and I am very happy to inform you that Sponsor #1 was able to fulfill her promise to send the Five Hundred Pesos (Php 500.00) monthly to each of her 5 JASPRs. That's Two Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php 2,500.00) a month, Twenty Five Thousand Pesos (Php 25,000) for the school year.

Due to unknown reason, Sponsor #2 was not able to send her promise to the 2 target recipients, so after 2 months of waiting, their parents were informed that the association can not give them the promised monthly allowance. But then their waiting was also rewarded with Five Hundred Pesos (Php 500.00) each. The amount was actually still from Sponsor #1 which is supposed to be her donation for the improvement of one of the classrooms here in JBL. So all in all, Sponsor #1 was able to give Twenty Six Thousand Pesos (Php 26,000) for the JASPRs. Isn't it GREAT? Other said this could have financed a wide span of the concrete perimeter fence the association is hoping to complete for JBLMNHS. Why donate it to 5 or 7 students only? Well, I believed she wanted to help build a better future for these students and their family who would become assets to the community and of course the whole world.

A MILLION THANKS TO YOU Sponsor #1. We wanted very much to publish your name here because you deserved to be recognized for that meritorious deed but since you wanted to be anonymous, we respect your decision. May the Good Lord continue to bless you and your family.

Many parents are inquiring as to how to avail of the financial assistance but sad to say that we are only relying on the support of the benevolent alumni or any generous individual. Please help me pray that there are other kind-hearted individuals as Sponsor #1

Three out of the five recipients are sons & daughters of JBLMNHS Alumni. Raynhette Tolentino Rebelala is the daughter of Nanette Tolentino of Batch 1994, Christian Quitong Quirino is the eldest son of Rey Cuadernal Quirino of Batch 1987 and Ragnild Quitong of Batch 1993, Ira Nay Navarette Herradura is the daughter of Vilma Navarette of Batch 1990.

My fellow alumni, what can you say about this? Hope to hear from you very soon.

Very truly yours,

Mirasol Q. Cabandi - Peralta
